22 March 1977
Built for Kroymans
Documented
Kroymans’ printout from Ferrari’s systems gives a production date of 22 March 1977 and an engine number that matches the chassis plate. A serial-number register lists chassis F106AL/A*13462* with engine F106A020*02186*, a 308 GT4 Series 2 in dark blue metallic, delivered new by Kroymans.24

New through Kroymans
Documented
The customer card records delivery on 25 April 1977 with a one-year warranty, to a carpet manufacturer’s company. Four days later the car was registered as 00-RR-11. Kroymans’ former service manager remembers it coming in for service with two small children in the back.136

Driven every day
Documented
A young company director saw the GT4 in Kroymans’ showroom and traded in his Peugeot 604 for it. The card lists him next, then his company from May 1980. He drove it every day, often parked on the Herengracht in Amsterdam, and was stopped by the police almost every week: they didn’t trust a young man in a Ferrari. He also took it to the south of France.16
Still to check The card gives the order of keepers; the date he bought it comes from his memory and his photographs.

Documented
A card entry notes the theft. The second keeper remembers it: the car was at Kroymans for maintenance when he heard it had been stolen. A week later it was back, and he never learned what happened.16
Still to check No police or insurance file is included.

Past 100,000 km
Documented
The card’s readings pass 100,000 km in 1981, then start again at 2,513 km. Years later the odometer showed 18,781 km, which the owner first took for the car’s whole mileage. The card ends that theory: the second keeper’s daily driving accounts for most of the distance.1
Still to check These are recorded readings, not a certified lifetime mileage.

About 1984
A bollard, and a Porsche
Stated
After about four years the second keeper hit a bollard, and the GT4 went to Kroymans with heavy front damage. Walking through the showroom with his son, he saw a green Porsche 911 Targa and traded the Ferrari in. The card notes damage at the right front; the bare panels showed the repair again in 2023.61
Still to check The year is his estimate. No trade-in paperwork is in the file.

6 February 1996
Two friends, one Ferrari
Documented
Two friends from a beer club in Alkmaar, a doctor and an accountant, bought the GT4 together, meaning to rally it. It was registered in the doctor’s name; the registration history shows two transfers on the same day. The roof was already heavy with filler, and the car still drove.36
Still to check Who sold them the car is not known: the registration history skips everyone between 1977 and 1996.

1996 to 1998
A roof that was never finished
Stated
The car stood at the doctor’s home and went out for drives. A restorer took on the roof, cut it open and kept making excuses; the car came back unfinished. A Ferrari workshop in Gelderland did a major service with a new timing belt, and its sticker is still in the door. The owner there remembers a very friendly man who came one to three times.6
Still to check No invoices survive from the restorer or the workshop.

27 July 1998 to 2012
Off the road, into a barn
Documented
Four months after passing its inspection, the registration was suspended. The car went into the co-owner’s barn in Heerhugowaard and stayed there until it was sold in 2012. The unfinished roof and a dent at the front are the likeliest reasons; nobody remembers exactly why.36
Still to check The reason for the suspension is not recorded. The registration stayed suspended until the 2013 transfer.

A dealer’s project
Documented
Registered to a classic-car dealer in Ankeveen, who bought it as a restoration project. The roof was already bare. A Ferrari specialist in Hilversum serviced the engine, and afterwards it ran well. Photographs dated December 2014 on a Dutch Ferrari register website come from these years.365

The last card in the box
Stated
Months of dead ends came first: a rumour that the car was Prince Bernhard’s, a namesake mistaken for the co-owner, and a first owner who turned out to have a different Dino. Then Kroymans searched its old card index on the former service manager’s advice. This car’s card was the very last one in the box, and he recognised his own handwriting.16

2023 restoration
Two blues
Stated
Ferrari’s records and a Ferrari dealer say Blu Sera Metallizzato, with beige leather and blue carpets. Under it, all over the car, are white primer and a light blue: Azzurro Cielo 20-A-547. The window apertures and an original roof panel show the light blue, and Kroymans’ former service manager says the apertures always show the first colour. The diary’s explanation is a factory repaint in 1977, perhaps after roof damage; nothing proves it. The owner chose Azzurro Cielo.72

Still to check When, where and why the car was repainted is not established. The restoration was unfinished at the end of the diary. Factory paint or repair records that explain the change

The second keeper, found
Stated
Traced through a shop manager’s email, the second keeper, now 83, recognised his car by its plate. He brought out period photographs and told of the daily driving, the police and the Porsche. Asked about the colour, he said: light blue, the real original colour and much nicer; dark blue is for a Jaguar.6
