A Boxer changed beyond its colour.
It began in the record as a red road car. Later photographs show a yellow Boxer with an extended tail, a raised spoiler and a very different presence. The transformation is visible; its exact sequence and engine story still need their missing papers.

This is a modified 512 BB research story. It is not presented as an authenticated 512 BBLM, a matching-numbers car or a car with a proven racing history. The booklet’s colour description does not establish an exact modern yellow paint code.
Registrations
Plates are how cars are found again. Registers, old photographs and listings often name the plate, not the chassis, so every plate opens another search.

Ferrari’s homologation papers record the Italian type approval of the 512 BB, certificate DGM 16246 OM of 14 December 1976: a rear-mid flat-twelve of 4,942 cc giving 340 CV at 6,200 rpm, a declared top speed of 276 km/h, and the chassis number stamped on the engine-bay frame, on the left. The booklet contrasts an original engine recorded as 00100 with the later photographed marking 00003. It explores a possible connection with a competition Boxer, but similar number forms and incomplete records leave that attribution unresolved.3
Still to check No authenticated engine transfer record or uninterrupted component history establishes a BBLM engine or a matching-numbers car.

When did each part of the transformation happen, and where did the later engine come from?
- Who changed what, and when?Bodywork invoices and dated progress photographs could separate the different stages of work.
- Can the 1988 date be confirmed?Original photographs, event records or a dated contact sheet could test the booklet’s captions.
- What is the later engine’s history?Factory, team and workshop records would be needed to establish an engine transfer and its identity.
