1984–1985 · supplied account
A purposeful beginning.
The recorded completion and a reported Amsterdam display introduce the GTO, with its manual windows, omitted air conditioning and early Dutch connection.

Completion & specification
A GTO with fewer comforts
Maranello, Italy · supplied account
The supplied record gives 5 September 1984 as the completion date of chassis 53319. It records Rosso Corsa FER 300 Glasurit paint, Nero leather with red inserts, engine number 114B0022 and European left-hand-drive specification. Manual windows and the absence of air conditioning give the account its distinctive detail: a GTO whose specification left out two everyday comforts.

A GTO at the Amsterdam RAI
Amsterdam, Netherlands · supplied account
The supplied account places chassis 53319 at the 1985 Amsterdam RAI Motor Show, reportedly in the presence of Prince Bernhard and Frits Kroymans. The later dealer listing also calls it an Amsterdam Motor Show car. That overlap is useful, but the precise display date, people present and identification of this chassis still require contemporary photographs or exhibition records.

1985 / 1993 context
A circuit, a delivery, a wider story.
A June meeting and July delivery leave a useful question. The later Challenge connection belongs to the club’s history, not a race record for this chassis.

Reported circuit appearance
Number 150 at Zandvoort
Zandvoort, Netherlands · supplied account
The supplied provenance account records chassis 53319 at the Ferrari BeNeLux Meeting at Zandvoort from 14 to 16 June 1985, carrying number 150. It is a compelling setting for the GTO of a Ferrari club founder. It also creates the central question in this early chronology: the meeting precedes the supplied formal delivery date by almost four weeks. The reason for that sequence remains open.

A Dutch home for the GTO
Hilversum / Naarden, Netherlands · supplied account
The supplied account records delivery through Kroymans in Hilversum to Berlinetta Beheer B.V., Hans Hugenholtz’s company in Naarden, on 11 July 1985. It associates the GTO with Dutch registration NJ-89-LH. That plate can be read in both supplied photographs, giving the written record a recognisable visual detail even though the photographs themselves are undated.

From club racing to the Challenge
Ferrari customer racing
Ferrari dates the beginning of its customer Challenge championship to 1993. Ferrari Club Nederland’s own history names Hans Hugenholtz as a co-founder and describes the later championship as growing from its club races and initiative. That gives the supplied GTO story a wider setting: the early Dutch club community and the racing culture it helped develop.

The two supplied photographs give this story a different pace. One finds the GTO indoors, among other cars. The other places it outdoors in a line of three Ferraris, photographed from behind. NJ-89-LH is visible in both. They preserve the car as it was photographed, while leaving the date, location and surrounding ownership history open.
